Blacky Black Best In Cape Breton
The feature pace on the Saturday afternoon card of harness racing at Northside Downs was brought to you by the letter 'B'.
A field of six pacers was reduced to five with the scratch of Accelerator. The newest of those five entrants in the Northside top class was Blacky Black, and he made a statement with a sharp wire-to-wire score. Barry Bates had the pedal to the metal with Blacky Black, busting out bold fractions of :28.1, :57.4 and 1:28 before barreling home in :30.4 to best his counterparts in 1:58.4. Pictonian Fancypass (Gerry Snow) was three parts of a length back in second with Eastview Dexter (Adam Lynk) closing well to complete the triactor.
Owned, trained and driven by Barry Bates, Blacky Black (The Panderosa - Black Brinny) picked up the third win of his five-year-old campaign. Since coming to Nova Scotia from Prince Edward Island, Blacky Black boasts a 3-2-0 summary from six starts.
