Canada's Richest Horse Race Saturday
In between Breeders Crown eliminations on Friday and Saturday night, Woodbine Racetrack plays host to Canada's richest horse race - the $2 million Pattison International on Saturday afternoon
.
The Grade 1 event for three-year-olds and up has drawn eight entrants from all over the world. The one and one-half mile Breeders Cup "win and you're in qualifier" takes place on the E.P. Taylor Turf Course, and TSN picks up the ESPN coverage of the event from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Jukebox Jury, an Irish-bred three-year-old, who has won three of his last six outings this year, goes to post as the 5-2 favourite, with defending champ Marsh Side at 7-2.
Patrick Chan, one of Canada's best medal hopes for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, was the drawmaster for the Pattison Canadian International, assisting in drawing the post positions. Chan's mother likened his legs to that of a racehorse's - very valuable assets.
Chan, 18, is a Toronto native and Canada's two-time reigning figure skating champion and the silver medalist at the 2009 World Figure Skating Championships.
