Shartin N Unanimous Atop S-Bred Poll
Shartin N has been No. 1 in this season’s Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll for all 15 weeks of the voting, and this week it was unanimous.
The six-year-old female pacer received all 35 first-place votes following her world record 1:48 win in a preliminary round of the Great Northeast Open Series for pacing mares at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Sunday.
Two newcomers joined the top 10 this week: Yonkers Trot winner Gimpanzee at No. 9 and Maple Leaf Trot winner Guardian Angel AS at No. 10.
Following is how the remainder of this week’s top 10 fared: Lather Up, second in Canadian Pacing Derby; Bettors Wish, second in Messenger Stakes; Greenshoe, idle; Captain Crunch, third in Simcoe Stakes; Atlanta, second in Maple Leaf Trot; Forbidden Trade, second in Yonkers Trot; Real Cool Sam, idle.
The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll, which runs weekly through November, does not determine Horse of the Year. The members of the U.S. Harness Writers Association vote on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year.
