Uptown Woman Wins 3R Feature
Uptown Woman strutted her stuff Friday at Hippodrome 3R for driver Pascal Berube as the Mach Three mare was able to wire the field in winning the Filly & Mare Preferred-Handicap Pace.
Berube sent Uptown Woman out of the starting gate in the ninth race feature but was parked to the opening quarter mile by Thrillogy (Marie Claude Auger) in :28 seconds.
From there it was all Uptown Woman as she cut the mile past the half in :58.2, three-quarters in 1:26.2 and went on to win going away by two and one-half lengths in 1:56.1.
Race favourite, Lit De Rose (Stephane Gendron) started from post eight, had road trouble, wove their way through the field and grabbed second place. Thrillogy was third.
Trained by Isabelle Binet, it was the fourth win this year for Uptown Woman, who is owned by the Uptown Woman Group of Portneuf. She paid $7.40 to win.
It was Francis Picard Night at the Hippodrome 3R Friday as the harness racing driver won four of the 10 races on the program.
Picard started out in second race with Ernie Panic ($7.00), then the fifth race with Hawaiian Five Roll ($3.50), the sixth race with Honeymoon Dechafra ($3.90) and then wrapped up the night in the tenth race with Guinness Panic ($3.70).
H3R’s leading trainer, Francis Richard, sent out three winners from his stable.
