Veteran driver Guy Gagnon showed no mercy to his fellow sulky sitters Thursday evening at Rideau Carleton Raceway thanks to an eight-win performance that included capturing the first five races on the 10-race card.

Gagnon kicked off the program winning the opener with Stpattysday (1:59), and he went on to win the next four races, too, with Michelles Deuce (1:57.2), Unabating (1:57.2), HP Pandora (1:55.2) and Dawn Shooter (1:54.3).

After a runner-up performance behind Wildcat Cam in Race 6, Gagnon finished sixth with race favourite Miss Rockadali in Race 7.

He returned to his winning ways, however, taking the final three races on the card. Thrilling Times (1:56.4) took race eight in convincing fashion before Arsenal De Chafra (1:56.2) and Pantheon Seelster (1:55.1) gave him the sweep of the Late Double.

Gagnon’s eight-win performance pushed this year’s win total to 123 while his seasonal UDR soared to .395. A career winner of 5,234 races, Gagnon is closing in on $25 million in lifetime earnings.
