Rare Walkover At Yonkers Thursday
Here’s one that can’t lose ... guaranteed or your non-wagering money cheerfully refunded.
On Thursday night (Aug. 29), Yonkers Raceway will host a good, old-fashioned walkover.
The three-year-old pacing gelding Its Rigged (punchline optional) has the honours at about 5:30 p.m. in a $6,100 New York Sire Stakes Excelsior ‘B’ event. Tyler Buter, who began the day at 3,209 career wins, is reasonably certain to get another one.
Its Rigged, a homebred Riggins gelding, enters with three wins and four second-place finishes in his nine seasonal starts ($13,100). He is owned by Last Hurrah Stable and trained by Eldo Leonelli.
Ironically, it’s the second consecutive season the Raceway has hosted a walkover. The three-year-old New York-bred pacing filly Windsun Magnolia and Jim Marohn Jr. made it look easy last September in a lifetime best 1:58.
