'Dream On' Braves The Breeze
Despite a long first-over grind that lasted over half the mile, Dream On Dream On ($2.40) proved best in Wednesday's (Aug. 28) $1,150 winners-over pacing feature at Inverness Raceway.
Now a nine-time winner this season, Dream On Dream On floated into third behind pacesetter Your Raider Boy (Rod Gillis) through a :29.2 first quarter. Nearing the completion of the first circuit, Ryan Campbell angled the eight-year-old If I Can Dream gelding first-over, and the pair accelerated to engage Your Raider Boy through middle splits of :58.2 and 1:28.1.
While Dream On Dream On wore down Your Raider Boy on the far turn, he wasn't home free — R Es Aiden (Redmond Doucet) emerged from the pocket to give chase. Dream On Dream On was undeterred, holding his ground to win by a head in 1:58.1. R Es Aiden was a game second, while Your Raider Boy finished third, beaten 5-3/4 lengths.
Raymond MacKinnon trains 26-time winner Dream On Dream On for Kayla Habicht Walker.
