Royal Witch Repeats At Mohawk Park

One of the most consistent trotting mares racing at Woodbine Mohawk Park in recent weeks has been Royal Witch, and she continued on her winning ways thanks to a front-stepping score in the Monday main event.

Royal Witch powered to the lead from Post 1 for driver Trevor Henry and ushered the field through fractions of :27.1, :56.2 and 1:25.1. She then used a :27.3 closing quarter to seal the deal in 1:52.4. She was three-quarters of a length better than runner-up Free Willy Hanover. Third prize was earned by O Narutac Perfetto.

Ben Baillargeon trains the five-year-old daughter of Kadabra-Royal Tennis for Tom and Elizabeth Rankin of St. Catharines, Ont. The 15-time winner now owns a 4-1-1 record from nine starts this season. The victory bumped her lifetime earnings to $287,693.
