Pressure Building In Kentucky

Kentucky.com, the web site of the Lexington Herald-Leader, says this morning that internal party pressure is building on state Senate president David Williams to relax his death hold on racinos and casinos in Kentucky

.

The news service report’s criticism of Williams from John David Dyche, an attorney and author of a new book on Senator Mitch McConnell, saying Williams “hard-line posture and strong-arm tactics on gambling are counterproductive. He has put several GOP legislators in difficult political positions.”

Also quoted, but with a clearly subjective view, is Republican Bill Farish, general manager of prominent Lane’s End farm, as writing, “Due to Williams’ utter mismanagement, this issue now pits Republicans against Republicans, not Republicans against Democrats, as he would have us believe. Sadly, Williams seems less concerned about helping our industry and more concerned about maintaining control over his Senate fiefdom.”
