Michigan Race Commission Abolished

In a move that can hardly be considered favourable for racing, the governor of Michigan, Jennifer Granholm, has by executive order abolished the Office of Racing Commissioner and its lone commissioner

.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board and its executive director now will supervise racing in the state. The order also transfers responsibility for appointing the state’s agriculture director from the Agriculture commission to the governor.
