Zweig Memorial Attracts 10

The 2019 Dr. Harry M. Zweig Memorial for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings, to be contested on Saturday (Aug. 17) at Vernon Downs, has drawn 10 horses, including several of the sophomore trotting division headliners.

Among those entered are the potent Melander pair of Hambletonian first heat winners Greenshoe and Green Manalishi S along with Beal Memorial winner Marseille. They will compete as part of a full field of nine in a single division of the stake, with the tenth entrant to have his three-year-old payments refunded.

The companion filly stake drew 14, including New Jersey Sire Stakes final winner Evident Beauty and 2018 Jim Doherty Memorial winner The Ice Dutchess. There is the possibility of a consolation race to accommodate the fillies that will not draw into the main event.

Saturday's card at Vernon Downs will also include New York Sire Stakes for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings.
