New Owners For Lather Up
Trot Insider has learned that the co-fastest Standardbred in harness racing history, Lather Up has added new owners in advance of his appearance on Friday (August 9) in the 2019 Dan Patch at Harrah's Hoosier Park.
Fifty percent of Lather Up has been sold to a group headed by Taylor Made Sales and Stallions according to Ernie Martinez of Martinez Equine. Martinez brokered Taylor Made’s previous Standardbred entity, the imported 'Wonder from Downunder' Lazarus N.
“We were pleased with the reception accorded Lazarus N in his first breeding season at Deo Volente Farms, and are confident this co-world champion Lather Up will be proportionately received,” offered Taylor Made’s CEO Duncan Taylor.
"Further details will be released as they become available," stated Martinez, "but for now it's on to Hoosier Park for tonight's running of the Dan Patch."
Lather Up is the 6-5 morning line favourite in the 2019 Dan Patch. The four-year-old horse, bred by owners Barbara and Gary Iles, has won seven of 10 races this year and $518,448. For his career, the son of Im Gorgeous out of Pocket Comb has won 22 of 35 starts and $1.48 million. He will start from Post 4 on Friday with Montrell Teague at the lines for trainer Clyde Francis.
