Hennessey, Skowyra Flex At Tioga
On Sunday afternoon (August 4) at Tioga Downs, Wally Hennessey came in and recorded a driving five-bagger, which included a win in the featured race on the card, the $12,000 Open Handicap Pace.
In the feature, Rebellious (who was driven by Mike Merton) went to the front and put in a fast first quarter of :25.4. Americanprimetime ($5.10) followed in second with Funknwaffles (Gates Brunet) in third. Rebellious slowed things down a little with a :28.3 second quarter and hit the half in :53.4. Americanprimetime made a first-over move with three-eighths of a mile left to go, but it was Rebellious that still led to three-quarters pole in 1:21.2.
Americanprimetime, who is owned by Rock & Roll Stable Inc. and trained by Rick Dane Jr., charged to the front as the field reached the stretch. Americanprimetime found another gear and breezed in the stretch to equal his seasonal best in 1:50. Rebellious held on for second, while Funknwaffles finished third.
Americanprimetime is a seven-year-old horse by American Ideal. The victory was his eighth win of the season. He now has won 36 times in his career.
Hennessey's other wins came with Thatsjusthowiroll ($7.90), Lily Hammer ($6.10), Miss Real Deal ($5.90), and Hugh Hefner N ($3.20).
Joe Skowyra trained four winners on the day. He combined with Hennessey to win with Hugh Hefner N. His other wins came with Mr Big Bucks ($2.30), Freak On A Leash ($4.20) and The Spy ($15.40).
