Atlantis Defeats Top Truro Pacers
Despite being parked every step of the way, three-year-old pacer Atlantis bested older rivals in Truro Raceway's top class on Friday evening (August 2).
Parked from post seven, Atlantis moved alongside pacesetter Stature Seelster (:27.4, :58, 1:27.1) as they raced towards the three-quarters mark and took over command on the turn. He then held off the passing lane plunge of Rusty Riley for the half-length victory in 1:57.3, with Catch Twenty Two rallying on for third. Brookdale Jim closed from the backfield to match strides with Stature Seelster in a dead-heat for fourth-place.
Atlantis paid $2 to win as the 2-1 second choice.
Marc Whebby drove the Well Said-Plant A Kiss gelding, who is four-for-six this year after racing in Ontario for the latter part of his freshman campaign, for trainer Emmons MacKay and owner Wayne Whebby.
