Golden Receiver Doubles In Pocono Open

Golden Receiver paced a blistering mile in sloppy conditions to win the featured $30,000 Open pace on Friday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs

.

Leaving as the 2-5 favourite from the inside post in a field of six, Golden Receiver waited until the first time through the front stretch to make a play for the lead, eventually clearing Drive All Night at the half-mile point of the race. No one was able to seriously threaten the lead from that point on, as Golden Receiver, with Mike Simons in the bike for trainer Mark Harder, came home a winner by two lengths in 1:50:2 in the slop.

Cheyenne Knight rallied for second while Drive All Night finished third.

Golden Receiver is now two-for-two against Open pacers at Pocono since shipping in from Vernon Downs. The four-year-old gelding, sired by Village Jove, won for the ninth time in 2009 and picked up his 14th victory in 30 lifetime starts, pushing his career earnings just shy of $140,000.
