Rock Solid Tops Day 2 For $225,000
Day two of the five-day Lexington Selected Yearling Sale continued on Thursday evening at the Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavilion in Lexington, KY, and a son of Rocknroll Hanover topped the second session
.
Rock Solid, a son of Rocknroll Hanover-Sweet On Art from the Cameo Hills Farm consignment, sold for $225,000 when the auctioneer’s gavel fell. Myron Bell, acting as agent for John Fodera of North Bergen, NJ, signed the ticket on the second foal out of a half-sister to Northern Luck (p,2,1:54f; 3, 1:49.1, $907,974). The dam’s first foal, a Western Hanover filly named Wild West Show, took a three-year-old record of 1:53.3 over a five-eighths oval and has banked just over $44,000 in earnings.
The sale topper for the first session was Ultimo Dolce, a Glidemaster half-brother to Ontario Sires Stakes standout Bella Dolce. The colt sold for $270,000 to agent Blair Burgess of Campbellville, ON.
Thursday’s session consisted of hip numbers 111-260. The action will continue Friday (263-423) and Saturday (425-590) evening at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday (591-836) at 12:00 noon.
