'Dream On' Does It Again
Dream On Dream On ($4.90) remains the king of Cape Breton Island by way of a resounding 1:57.1 score — his sixth in as many starts through July — in the Inverness Gathering Pace on Wednesday (July 24) at Inverness Raceway.
The eight-year-old If I Can Dream employed different tactics, however, settling off the pace from the pole while even-money favourite Intended Royalty (Redmond Doucet) clicked off a :28.3 quarter and gaining second-over behind Windmeredontmatter (Travis MacLean) nearing a :57.4 half.
Dream On Dream On overpowered his cover early in the second circuit before marching on to engage Intended Royalty on the final turn. Off the corner for home, Dream On Dream On struck the front and edged away to prevail by 2-3/4 lengths. Intended Royalty held second, and Rusty Riley (Paul Langille) rallied from last to finish third.
