‘Aces’ Mares Open To Juslikeaqueen
Running Aces’ Tuesday evening (July 23) live card featured the weekly edition of the track’s $16,00 Mares Open Pace event, which housed a field of nine.
After having just taken her shot against the boys in the track’s Dan Patch Free For All Pace, Juslikeaqueen ($2.80) returned to the Mares Open on Tuesday and proceeded to record a 1:52.2, gate-to-wire win from Post 8 for driver Dean Magee and trainer Tim Maier.
Juslikeaqueen checked in one and three-quarter lengths ahead of Delightfully Wild (driven by Nick Roland) at the wire. Pull The Shade (Brady Jenson) turned in another impressive ‘first-over forever’ mile and held gamely for third.
Juslikeaqueen is a five-year-old mare by Palone Ranger and is owned by Antonia Storer. The mare has now recorded nine wins from 23 starts this year. Overall, she has notched 26 career wins and banked $289,080 in purses.
Teachmehowtotory ($3.80, Nick Roland) picked up her second consecutive win in the $11,500 Minnesota-sired two-year-old filly trot, as she put forth a dominating performance in 2:03.1. The sharp filly by Braggart now has two wins from three starts for owners Set The Pace Racing, LLC.
Dubberyoo ($15.20, Dean Magee) was a winner in his career debut in the $9,200 Minnesota-sired two-year-old ‘B’ pace, as he notched an impressive win from off the pace in 2:01.3. The Its That Time gelding is owned by Merlin Van Oterloo and trained by Brett Ballinger.
Trotterlicious ($4.00, Tim Maier) was impressive again, as he turned in his second consecutive gate-to-wire win in the $11,500 Minnesota-sired two-year-old colt and gelding trot. He stopped the timer in 2:01. The Money Talks gelding is owned and trained by Rick Bertrand.
Bunkerhill Phil ($3.40, Don Harmon) has now won three consecutive races at Running Aces. He picked up an impressive last-to-first sweep in the $13,800 Minnesota-sired two-year-old ‘A’ pace in 1:58.2. He powered home in :28.2 to get up at the wire by a neck. The impressive son of Vlos now has five wins from six career outings. The winning owner/trainer/breeder is Gene Miller.
Drivers Dean Magee and Steve Wiseman both turned in hat-trick performances on Tuesday, while Nick Roland completed a driving double.
Live racing will return to Running Aces on Saturday (July 27) with first post at 6 p.m. (Central). There will be two carryover pools: The 20-cent Pick-5 Jackpot is $2,192.87, and the 50-cent Hi-5 has a carryover of $1,950.98.
