Run Director Romps In Preferred
The betting public was all over Run Director in Monday’s $34,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and the Ben Baillargeon trainee didn’t disappoint.
Sylvain Filion got away fourth with heavily favoured Run Director, who watched Treasured Tee shoot to the early lead while supplying the group with opening quarter speed of :27.3. Run Director went into sprint mode in the backstretch, however, and in a matter of strides he became the new leader.
Run Director went on to post middle panels of :56 and 1:25 before summoning up a :28-second closing panel to win by 2-1/4 lengths over Emoticon Hanover in 1:53. Treasured Tee tagged along to finish third in the seven-horse affair.
The four-year-old son of Kadabra-Keep The Spirit is a homebred owned by Tom and Elizabeth Rankin of St. Catharines, Ont. The victor improved his 2019 record to three wins from six starts and it goes down as his ninth lifetime tally. The $17,000 payday boosted his overall cash stash to $491,005.
