Crown Supplements Due Monday

The countdown has begun on supplements and entries for the $5 million (U.S.) Breeders Crown two and three-year-old events, which will be raced Saturday, October 24

at Woodbine Racetrack.

The $600,000 (guaranteed) Breeders Crown sophomore events carry a supplemental tag of $62,500 (U.S.).

Supplemental declarations for the quartet of three-year-old events are due and payable on Monday, October 12, 2009 by 12:00 noon in the race secretary's office (905-854-7805) at Mohawk Racetrack. A one-time supplemental payment makes a horse eligible to subsequent years’ Breeders Crown events under the normal schedule of payments.

There are no supplements for the two-year-old races.

The starting fee is included in the supplemental amounts, and all supplemental money, minus the starting fee, may be added to the purse of the individual events.

Horses eligible to the Breeders Crown events must enter by 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 13, also at the Mohawk race office.

Eliminations for all two-year-olds, if needed, will occur on Friday, October 16. The three-year-old eliminations, if needed, will be raced Saturday, October 17, with a delayed post time of 8:00 p.m.

The connections of elimination winners may pick their horse's post position for the finals. The three-year-old colt races will be drawn at the Breeders Crown press conference, hosted by former Houston Oiler and Edmonton Eskimo quarterback Warren Moon in Woodbine’s Trackside Tent at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, October 20. Moon will be inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame along with hockey legend Mark Messier and harness racing's driving kingpin John Campbell among others on Tuesday, November 3.
