‘Royalty’ Reigns At Inverness
After having been bet down to 70 cents on the dollar by the wagering public on Sunday (July 14), Intended Royalty ($3.40) captured Inverness Raceway’s $1,050 Winners-Over Pace via a gate-to-wire performance in 1:57.4.
Intended Royalty started from Post 6 in Race 7, cut the fractions (:29.1, :58.1, 1:28.1) and sealed the deal via a :29.3 final quarter.
Intended Royalty’s margin of victory was one and half lengths for driver Redmond Doucet and trainer Randy Copley, who co-owns with fellow Inverness, NS resident Edward Copley.
The Ryan Campbell-driven Modern Best took a two-hole ride after a Post 1 start and finished second. Post 4 starter Docs Ronhenry (who was driven by Rodney Gillis) closed to finish third, three lengths in arrears of the victor.
Intended Royalty has now won six of his 16 starts this season. In terms of his career, the 32-time career winner has now banked $110,656 in purse earnings.
