Monticello Hosts NYSS On Monday

The New York Sire Stakes program returns to Monticello Raceway on Monday (July 15) as three-year-old pacing fillies take the stage.

The Monday stop is the sixth of the eight-leg series. Four of the top five NYSS point earners for division are entered, with point leader Zero Tolerance racing Saturday at the Meadowlands in the Mistletoe Shalee.

On tap are two five-horse divisions of Sire Stakes, each featuring a purse of $56,500. Headlining the first division, carded as the second race, is DD Delicious (PP2, Matt Kakaley). A bay Art Major filly trained by Travis Alexander, DD Delicious won a division of Sire Stakes at Tioga Downs where she scored in 1:54.1, and she has picked up a cheque in every start this year. She currently sits third in the point standings with 117 points.

Chase You (PP5, Scott Zeron) makes the jump up from the Excelsior A class. The American Ideal filly has dominated that division and won three in that class, earning $81,550 thus far this season. Chase You is trained by Michelle Crawford for owner Ted Cupp of Ovid, N.Y.

So Awesome (PP3, Tyler Buter) is second in the point standings with 137 points and will look to close the gap on leader Zero Tolerance, who will remain at 150. Trained by Scott Di Domenico, So Awesome finished second in the NYSS Final at Yonkers last fall and she has not finished off the board in NYSS events this year with a 1-3-1 summary.

JK American Beauty will start from the rail for driver Jordan Stratton, trainer Nancy Johansson and owners 3 Brothers Stable of New York, N.Y. The daughter of American Ideal took her lifetime mark of 1:51 at The Meadowlands, and shows half-mile talent with a NYSS win at Buffalo Raceway in 1:54.

Also on the card are two $15,000 divisions of Excelsior A and a $6,800 lone heat of the Excelsior B. First race post time for the eight-race card is 12:50 p.m.
