Seaswift Joy N Toys With Preferred Foes
Driver Doug McNair took a patient approach with Seaswift Joy N in Friday’s $30,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and the tactics paid off handsomely as the distaffer drew clear to win in a career-best clocking of 1:50.
Seaswift Joy N got away fifth while Witch Dali and Windsun Glory took turns on the lead through fractions of :27.1, :55.1 and 1:23.2. Cousin Mary made a first-over bid around the final turn, and Seaswift Joy was tracking her from second over.
McNair kicked off cover in the lane, and Seaswift Joy powered home in :26.1 to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Cousin Mary. Kendall Seelster, who was making her first start since the middle of February.
Tony Alagna trains the six-year-old daughter of Bettors Delight-Swift Belle, who won as she pleased for owner Brad Grant of Milton, Ont. The 20-time winner now owns a 9-1-1 record from 16 trips to the track. She’s banked more than $275,000 to date.
