After being worn down in a hard fought stretch battle last week, Rose Run Quest will look for redemption in the Saturday evening (June 29) Preferred Pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at Charlottetown Driving Park. The capital oval will host 12 dashes kicking off at 6 p.m., with the $2,900 Preferred carded as race 11.

Bugsy Maguire was the victor in last week’s Cecil Ladner Memorial Invitational, with Myles Heffernan Sr. picking up the catch drive for trainer Wade Sorrie and owner Walter Simmons. That night, the five-year-old son of Bettors Delight was launched first-over and battled past pacesetter Rose Run Quest. Marc Campbell will drive Rose Run Quest from post 5 while Bugsy Maguire will leave from post 6.

Race analyst Les MacIsaac will give the edge to Rose Run Quest to come out on top of this week’s contest.

“Rose Run Quest came up just a little short last week, but missing his latest assignment due to sickness had to have been a contributing factor,” MacIsaac said. “With his gate speed, an uncontested lead looks quite possible, and with a breather anywhere throughout the mile, it could be all over.”

Other Preferred entrants include Red Magician (Adam Merner), Do Over Hanover (Jason Hughes), Czar Seelster (Kenny Arsenault), Soccer Hanover (Corey MacPherson) and Burn Out Hanover (Gilles Barrieau).

Win streaks will collide in the ninth-race Fillies and Mares Open, which carries a $2,750 purse. Sodwana Bay will leave from post 4 with trainer Barrieau in the bike, while Jordies Hope has post 2 with Corey MacPherson picking up the catch drive for trainer Brian Ladner. Both mares enter off back-to-back wins, with one streak set to end Saturday. Other top entries include Woodmere Finesse (Mark Bradley) and Collective Wisdom (Ron Matheson).

The $100,000 Dash For Cash continues on the Saturday program, with any patron spending $10 or more on a single wager receiving a ballot for the contest. Two patrons will be drawn later in the night for a chance to win the jackpot if they correctly select the complete order of finish in the final dash of the card.

Driver Corey MacPherson will be special guest on the Inside Track with host Peter MacPhee. The interview segment airs at 5:35 p.m. on the Red Shores broadcast.

Noudidnt Blue Chip Controls Red Shores Feature Rail

With rail control and the hottest driver in Prince County harness racing at the lines, Noudidnt Blue Chip will look to extend his win streak in the featured pace on a special Canada Day program Monday afternoon (July 1) at Red Shores at Summerside Raceway. The 12-dash Monday card gets underway at 1 p.m. with the featured pacers hitting the track in race 11.

Noudidnt Blue Chip has drawn post 1 in the $2,750 event, with David Dowling back at the lines fresh off a feature win last week for owner-trainer Neal Moase. Dowling won six dashes on that day, but will have some stiff competition to capture the feature this week. Jeb is the morning-line choice from post 3, with Jason Hughes at the controls for trainer Kevin Gills after winning his latest outing in 1:57.4 over Red Shores Charlottetown. Adkins Hanover was defeated in the final strides of last week’s featured pace at Red Shores Summerside, and will leave from post 4 this week with Ambyr Campbell back in the bike.

Race analyst Les MacIsaac will side with the Charlottetown shipper, Jeb, the hit the top of his tickets.

“Jeb offers a not worse than second record from his last four starts and gets a post that could allow him to secure an uncontested lead,” MacIsaac said. “Once there, if Jason can steal a fraction it could be all over.”

Also in the featured field are Phil Dorleans (Dale Spence), Santanna Sass (Marc Campbell) and Pictonian Storm (Myles Heffernan Sr.).

Mantario makes his Prince Edward Island debut in race 11 of the card, drawing post 7 for new owner Walter Simmons and trainer Alex Sobey. Kenny Arsenault is in the bike behind the three-year-old son of Sportswriter, who was already a winner in 1:53.1 over the half-mile oval at Saratoga Casino Hotel in New York.

Rising Fella is the favourite in the ninth-race Canada Day Pace, which goes for a $1,700 pot. Hughes is at the lines for trainer Jaycob Sweet and owners Jansen and Allison Sweet, Susan Thomson, and Brody Ellis.

Driver Norris Rogers will be special guest on the Inside Track with host Rocky Schurman. The interview segment airs at 12:35 p.m. on the Red Shores broadcast on Monday.
