Dark Dutchess Sweeps DSBF Prelims
Carol Jamieson-Parker's Dark Dutchess ($2.40, Jack Parker Jr.) completed a sweep of her three-year-old filly Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund $20,000 preliminary events on Wednesday (June 19) at Harrington Raceway with a 2:00.4 win.
Dark Dutchess, a Hes Spooky filly, overcame an early break in stride near the quarter-mile mark to regroup and make the lead approaching the half-mile. From there, she refused to relent in her victory over Miss Popeye and Bellas Party Punk.
Embrace The Grind ($2.20, Jonathan Roberts) was victorious via a 2:01 front-end score over Just As Striking and Rich N Royal. The Keystone Activator gelding has won 10 of 13 career starts for owner-trainer Andrew Glassmeyer.
Disco Soliel (Rod Allen) won the first of two non-wagering events, this one for fillies. Owned by Rod Allen for trainer Carlo Poliseno, the CR Commando filly was a 2:02.2 winner over Cierras Choice and Royal Locket. It was her eighth career win.
Meanwhile, Bay Pond Racing’s Dr Grinch (Jeff Fout) was a wire-to-wire winner in the second non-wagering division, this one for colts and geldings. The Giant Hit gelding held off all comers on the front and was a half-length winner over Go Jetem and Phantom Feet.
The top eight point earners from the three-year-old DSBF events will return to compete in $100,000 finals on July 25.
Allan Davis won four races on the card, while Jonathan Roberts won three. Ross Wolfenden and Montrell Teague each had two.
