Cenalta Call Girl Cruises At Georgian
Brushing to the lead past the half, Cenalta Call Girl strolled to a two-and-a-quarter length victory to take the $10,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 Handicap in 1:53.3 on Sunday, June 16 at Georgian Downs.
Shadow World took control while race-favourite Better Decision N advanced uncovered through a :27.2 opening quarter to take the lead. With the pace slowing towards a :58 half, driver Scott Young angled Cenalta Call Girl off the cones and progressed towards the leader moving into the backside. The five-year-old Allamerican Merlin mare led narrowly as War Filly applied first-over pressure past three-quarters in 1:26 but easily kicked away to victory. Shadow World took second while War Filly settled for third.
Co-owned by trainer Pam Forgie with Dr. Steve Taylor, Cenalta Call Girl won her seventh race from 21 starts this season and her 22nd from 66 overall, earning $133,137. She paid $8.40 to win.
Following the evening’s feature, Dazzling Rockette rallied from last to take the $8,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 Pace in 1:53.2.
The seven-year-old Rocknroll Hanover mare sat seven lengths off splits of :27.2 and :56.3 set by Twenty Three Red and even-money favourite Anderson Seelster. The former led the field past the stands but yielded command to the latter before the second turn.
Anderson Seelster continued on a loose lead past three-quarters in 1:24.4 while Dazzling Rockette wound three wide from the back past Aint Three Ok stalling uncovered. Dazzling Rockette rolled into the stretch and collared Anderson Seelster nearing the wire to win by three-quarter lengths. The Girls Of Image took third.
Owned by trainer Ashleigh Hensley and driver Ed Hensley, Dazzling Rockette won her third race from 20 starts this season and her 31st from 177 overall, earning $340,450. She paid $7.30 to win.
