Fan Hanover Consolation To Sunny Dee
Her perfect record spoiled one week ago, Sunny Dee started what her connections hope is another string of victories with a strong performance in the $35,000 Fan Hanover Consolation.
Driver Trevor Henry settled the favourite into fourth early as Sports Flix (Doug McNair) was eager to find the front from post seven. Sports Flix powered through the first two panels with a :27.1 opener and :56.2 half, but seemingly she only did that because Sunny Dee allowed it.
Henry right-lined Sunny Dee after the half-mile marker and the daughter of Sunshine Beach unleashed a vicious backside brush to clear the pacesetter with ease and whip past the third station in 1:23.3. Into the stretch, only one rival looked to possibly pose a bit of a threat -- stablemate Thats Incredible (David Miller) but she could only get to within a length of Sunny Dee at the wire, reached in a lifetime best 1:51. Sports Flix stayed for third.
A homebred owned by trainer Bob McIntosh along with C S X Stables of Liberty Center, Oh. and Al McIntosh Holdings Inc. of Leamington, Ont., Sunny Dee (Sunshine Beach - West Of L A) sports a 90 percent win clip with nine scores in 10 tries with earnings of $190,078.
