Holliday Hits Five With Sharpes Score
Premier Rockstar ($10.40) denied odds-on favourite Nagle the Sharpes Series sweep in the $12,000 final for male pacers and completed a five-win Saturday night at Hanover Raceway for driver Ryan Holliday.
Premier Rockstar, the 4-1 second choice, conceded the lead to the favourite early on, but collared him at the wire in a final time of 1:56.1 over the 'good' track. Dramatist, who trailed the five-horse field throughout, came on for third.
Bob Young trains the three-year-old gelded son of A Rocknroll Dance for Michigan owner/breeder Premier And Associates Fa. Premier Rockstar is now four-for-12 with $19,704 in the bank.
The three-leg series was for pacing horses and geldings four years old and younger that were maidens or non-winners of $5,000 lifetime (or $7,500 for Ontario-sired horses) as of April 30.
Premier Rockstar was nosed out by Nagle in the June 1 opening leg and finished fourth last week in round two.
Holliday also picked up wins earlier on the 10-race card with Larjon Lester ($18), Credit To Burn ($4), Mae Belle Duke ($7.70) and Bazinga Brad ($2.60).
