No Ordinary Man With No Ordinary Mile
A $15,000 maiden pace highlighted the Tuesday, June 11 card at Woodbine Mohawk Park with Bettor B Going—entering off a 29-length victory at Kawartha Downs—losing to 1-5 favourite No Ordinary Man, who powered past to a blowout victory in 1:50.4.
The Meg Crone-trained gelding by Betterthancheddar rushed to the lead approaching a :26.1 opening quarter before yielding to Bettor B Going into the backside. No Ordinary Man sat the pocket through a :54.2 half but pulled from the pylons nearing three-quarters in 1:23.2 and blew by turning for the finish. Bettor B Going gave pursuit from second as No Ordinary Man widened his lead to the wire in progress to a seven-and-three-quarter lengths victory. Time To Dance took third.
Owned by William Wiswell, Jean Gohlen and Eugene Schick, No Ordinary Man collected his first victory from 11 starts overall. Trevor Henry drove the $2.20 winner.
Tuesday's sixth race at Mohawk featured another win for sire Betterthancheddar, with Lovely Donna emerging victorious in the $18,000 conditioned event. Most notably, Lovely Donna fronted a 1-5-2-4 superfecta with the top four spots swept by Betterthancheddar offspring (Lovely Donna, Charmbro Brie, Red River Jane, Cafe Society).
