Shartin N Strolls In Roses Are Red Prep
Millionaire mare Shartin N seized control early and faced little pressure when pacing a 1:48.4 mile in the $35,000 prep for the Roses Are Red Stakes on Saturday, June 8 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
The six-year-old Tintin In America mare ranged towards the front as Caviart Ally gunned for the lead into the first turn. Shartin N brushed to the top past a :26.2 opening quarter and led the field past the half in :55.
Youaremycandygirl tipped from fourth moving into the far turn and advanced towards the leader approaching a 1:22.4 third quarter. Shartin N swung into the stretch while Caviart Ally raced on the right line from the pocket and Youaremycandygirl chased wide from third. Shartin N gradually expanded her lead while Caviart Ally, upon straightening course, accelerated late to secure second over Youaremycandygirl.
Winning her 33rd race from 45 starts, Shartin N races for owners Richard Poillucci, Joanne Looney-King and Tim Tetrick LLC. Tim Tetrick drove the Jim King Jr. trainee as she paid $2.80 to win while pushing her earnings to $1,561,155.
