Ritchie To Drive In Legends Day Trot
There’s always something new at Clinton Raceway’s popular Legends Day celebration, and the 10th edition of the biennial event, which has been set for Sunday, June 23, is no exception.
Trevor Ritchie, who will be inducted into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame in August, will join the lineup of legends for the first time.
Ritchie will contest the $15,000 Legends Day Trot along with Hall of Famers David Miller, Steve Condren, Dave Wall, Ron Waples, Doug Brown and Wally Hennessey. Joining those legends for an autograph session will be retired drivers Keith Waples, John Campbell and Bill O’Donnell.
The event will again raise money for the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation. Previous editions of Legends Day have raised more than $210,000 for the foundation. In 2017, Legends Day raised a record $60,000 and track general manager Ian Fleming — who will be inducted into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame as a builder this August — said he is hoping to break that record this year.
An online auction featuring luxury boxes, tickets to major events, cottage rentals and more will be available between June 17-21. There will also be a chicken barbeque on June 23 at Clinton Raceway after the conclusion of Legends Day.
