Surf Report, a 22-1 long shot, was given a perfect drive by Tyler Jones in in the featured Preferred Handicap Pace at Hippodrome 3R on Sunday (May 12) and paid a handsome $47.60 to win.

It was the 15th start of the season for the seven-year-old son of Sportswriter, and also the second straight win and fourth triumph of the year for owner-trainer Francis Guillemettel.

Surf Report left from post 5 and led the entire race with Jones in the sulky, holding the field at bay throughout. He won by 3-1/2 lengths over Bali (Stephane Brosseau) and Windsun Cheyene (Pierre-Luc Roy).

In the featured trot, Rocky Boy and driver Marc Belanger sat a perfect two-hole trip behind pacesetter R Rkadabra (Pascal Berube) and rallied in the stretch to win by 1-3/4 lengths in 2:00. R Rkadabra was able to hold for second place with Dance Hall George (Francis Picard) third.

It was the first start of the season for Rocky Boy ($11.40), who is trained and co-owned by Stephane Beaudoin with Belanger. Beaudoin led all trainers on Sunday sending out two winners.

Leading driver Stephane Gendron led all drivers again with three winners. He now has seven so far after two race days.

William Roy made his first pari-mutuel start as a harness racing driver in the sixth race with Buckeye Babe, who finished a respectable fifth.

Live racing resumes at Hippodrome 3R next Sunday (May 19) with first race post time at 1:00 pm. For more information, visit www.quebecjockeyclub.com.
