A pair of older performers that have won Breeders Crown eliminations in the past showed that they may be ready to fit in with the best of their divisions, as they posted impressive qualifying victories at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Tuesday morning (May 7).

Shnitzledosomethin, the distinctively-named four-year-old son of Fred And Ginger, was a wire-to-wire winner for trainer Dylan Davis and driver David Miller in 1:52.4. He recorded back fractions of :55.3 – :27.1. The winner of $597,782 first came to national prominence with a second-place finish in the ‘Crown’ at two at his ‘home track’ of Hoosier Park. Last year he won a Crown elimination and was fourth in the final.

Muscle Diamond returned from a three and a half-month layoff and hit the wire first in his qualifier. The seven-year-old son of Muscle Hill converted a front-end trip into a 1:56.3 win. He marched home in :56.4 – :28.1 for trainer Brett Bittle and driver Andrew McCarthy. Muscle Diamond has amassed $785,699 in career purse earnings – a good portion of which came from on-the-board finishes in Breeders Crown finals.
