Priceless Edition Prevails In Rideau Preferred
Not even a first-over trip could keep Priceless Edition out of the winner’s circle on Sunday night as the Mark Steacy pupil rallied to a solid score in Rideau Carleton
Raceway’s $12,100 Preferred Pace.
Gord Brown mapped out the winning trip for the five-year-old son of Real Desire-Precious Delight, who was making his second start off the shelf following a bit of downtime.
Lincoln Parke shot to the early lead and hammered out a first panel clocked in 27 seconds before backing things off in the second quarter. He had the field at his mercy past the mid-way point in 57 seconds, but he wasn’t afforded that luxury in the third quarter. Priceless Edition launched an aggressive attack for driver Gord Brown, who went toe-to-toe with Lincoln Parke to the three-quarter pole in 1:24.1 before stepping away from that foe in the lane en route to the 1:52.1 tally. Lincoln Parke stayed for second and third went to Always Western.
Peter Heffering of Port Perry, ON bred and owns the gelding, who won for the second time this season in nine attempts. The 23-time winner has put away more than $364,000 in his career.
