Solid Score For Seaswift Joy N
Double A Mint was the hottest thing since sliced bread in the Fillies & Mares Preferred class thanks in large part to six straight score in the class, but Friday night she turned over her tiara to a newcomer named Seaswift Joy N.
Sent out by trainer Tony Alagna, Seaswift Joy N got away third in Friday’s $30,000 affair, but she didn’t sit for very long. After Sandbetweenurtoes threw down an opening quarter clocked in :27.2, Doug McNair had Seaswift Joy N in gear as the field entered the backstretch.
Seaswift Joy N stole middle splits of :56.2 and 1:26 before roaring home in :26.4 to win by 2-3/4 lengths over the pocket-sitting Sandbetweenurtoes. Outlaw Fireball fended off Double A Mint in the race for the show dough.
The 1:52.4 triumph was the sixth of the season from 11 attempts for the six-year-old daughter of Bettors Delight-Swift Belle. Brad Grant of Milton, Ont. owns the career winner of $223,989.
