Bettors Wish Sharp In Debut
After assembling a terrific rookie record in 2018, the expectations are certain to be high for Bettors Wish going into his 2019 campaign.
The talented son of Bettors Delight-Lifetime Star, who is listed at 22-1 in TROT Magazine’s 2019 Pepsi North America Cup Spring Book, kicked off his sophomore season with a decisive score in a $20,000 conditioned event Monday evening at Yonkers Raceway.
Bettors Wish, in rein to Dexter Dunn, sat a two-hole trip through panels of :28 and :57.1 before going first-over on Twin B Tuffenuff at the three-quarter pole in 1:24.4. Both pacers kicked home strong, but Bettors Wish proved to be the stronger of the two. His final frame of :27.1 earned him the win by 1-3/4 lengths over Twin B Tuffenuff in 1:52.
Trainer Chris Ryder co-owns the six-time winner with Bella Racing Ltd, Fair Island Farm Inc and Kenneth Solomon. The partnership watched the pacer put together a 5-4-2 record from 12 assignments last year, and that amounted to a bankroll in excess of $345,000.
