Sintra Sizzles In Return
Taking two months off following wins in all five of his starts this season, Sintra won with ease in the $34,000 Preferred Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park as the favourite with a 1:50.1 score.
Sitting fourth as Physicallyinclined paced to a :27 opening quarter, Sintra stayed put at the rail while the pacesetter continued on the lead unchallenged to a :55.2 half. Driver Jody Jamieson soon pulled the six-year-old Mach Three gelding off the rail moving into the far turn and ranged towards Physicallyinclined passing a 1:23 third quarter. Sintra assumed command into the stretch and kicked clear while pocket-sitter Maroma Beach overtook Physicallyinclined late for second, three-and-a-quarter lengths behind the winner.
Owned by Michael Guerriero, Kelly Waxman, Nunzio Vena and Frank Cirillo, Sintra remains undefeated this season from six starts while winning his 24th race from 55 overall, approaching $1.1 million in earnings. Stephanie Jamieson trains the $3.50 winner.
