Artistic Pick Drops And Pops
A drop in class and an improved post position was all the edge Artistic Pick needed to find his way to victory lane in Monday’s $9,400 Preferred 3 for horse and gelding pacers at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
A non-threatening seventh in his previous outing in London in the Preferred 2 & 3 Handicap, Artistic Pick shot right to the front in Monday’s assignment and he never looked back for driver Colin Kelly.
The gelding rolled the field through fractions of :28, :58 and 1:27 before using a :30.3 closing quarter to win by a half-length margin over The Loan Ranger in 1:57.3. Race favourite Pauly Wally took home third prize in the eight-horse affair.
Trainer Kyle Bossence shares ownership on the five-year-old son of Artistic Fella-Presidents Pick with his brother, Brandon Bossence. Sent off at odds of 5-2, Artistic Pick has assembled a 3-4-1 record from just 11 trips to the track this season. The 13-time winner recently surpassed $100,000 in lifetime earnings.
