Dr Nabrinsky Back To Winner's Circle
Dr Nabrinsky, who had her two-race win streak snapped by Native Bride the following week in Open Handicap Pace company for fillies and mares at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, scored a wire-to-wire victory Wednesday at the Northeastern Pennsylvania racetrack
.
The five-year-old mare was a three-length victor over Teenage Paige (Tom Jackson) with Native Bride (Joe Pavia Jr.) finishing third in the $30,000 Open Handicap Pace for the gals.
Ryan Anderson was in the sulky with Dr Nabrinsky, who took the seven-horse field to the opening quarter in :27.4, half in :56.2 and three-quarters in 1:23.4 before stopping the timer in 1:51.4. Teenage Paige sat second for most of the race while Native Bride, who won the previous week in 1:50.2 on her second start of the year, was seventh and last for more than three-quarters of the race and had to come third-over in the flow.
This was the seventh win for Dr Nabrinsky in 2009, who has bankred more than $132,000 in earnings with this purse. Al Pellegrini trains the winner.
