Fiftydallarbill Surfaces
Fiftydallarbill made a name for himself in the fall of 2017 courtesy of his victory in the $600,000 Breeders Crown Two-Year-Old Colt and Gelding Trot. After having been given some time away from the races over the winter, the standout son of Swan For All has now made his four-year-old charted debut.
The mile in question was recorded this morning (Wednesday, April 10) during a qualifying session at Harrah’s Hoosier Park in Indiana. The replay of Fiftydallarbill’s qualifier appears below. It will start immediately at the 2:27 mark and will end at 5:04.
Trace Tetrick steered Fiftydallarbill onto the seven-eighths-mile Hoosier course for Race 2 on the docket and the duo lined up in Post 5.
Tetrick was able to work the brown horse into a good spot early, as Fiftydallarbill rode the pocket through the :28.2 opening quarter and :58.2 half. The career winner of 15 of 34 starts and $850,000 was still in second through the 1:28.3 three-quarters, but was starting to reel in the tempo setter (I know My Chip, driven by Sam Widger).
Fiftydallarbill found another gear in the final panel, and came home with a :26.4 closing quarter to get up for a one-length win in 1:55.2.
The biggest win of Fiftydallarbill’s three-year-old campaign came in the Indiana Sires Stakes Super Finals when he trotted victoriously in 1:54.2, although he did put forth a speedy effort in an opening-heat loss in the Kentucky Futurity, where he fell just a neck short of Six Pack and was timed in 1:50.2.
Fiftydallarbill, who is trained by William Crone, is owned by John Barnard of Miami, Florida.
