War Filly First At Flamboro
From start to finish, War Filly controlled the pace and, despite pressure from parked-out Southwind Ion, won the $8,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred 3 Pace by three lengths on the Saturday, March 30 card at Flamboro Downs.
The seven-year-old Mach Three filly dueled with Southwind Ion to a :27.3 opening quarter with a neck separating them. She widened her advantaged as Southwind Ion faltered into a :56.1 half and retreated heading to three-quarters. Village Jamie, positioned second over, circled by the fading horse and took second past a 1:25.2 third quarter. War Filly strolled through the stretch in progress to a 1:55.4 victory with Village Jamie holding second from Bourbon Seelster in third.
Owned by Bradley Powell and trainer John Powell, War Filly won her third race in 12 starts this season and her 20th in 141 overall, earning $180,018. J Harris drove the $12.00 winner.
