Cenalta Call Girl Glides In London
Rail-starter and 2-5 favourite Cenalta Call Girl cruised on the point to take the $8,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred 3 Pace going wire to wire on Tuesday, March 26 at The Raceway at Western Fair District in 1:57.1.
The five-year-old daughter of Allamerican Merlin turned away a challenge from Top Royal, who gunned for a top spot from post seven, heading to a :28.3 opening quarter. Howmacfiesty secured the pocket while Top Royal sat third through a :58.2 half. Top Royal soon returned first over into the backside in an attempt to take control, but Cenalta Call Girl maintained a two-length lead through three-quarters in 1:27.2 and strolled through the stretch under minimal pressure to win. Howmacfiesty took second with Top Royal settling for third.
Owned by Dr. Steve Taylor and trainer Pam Forgie, Cenalta Call Girl won her second race from 10 starts this season and her 17th from 55 overall, earning $107,848. Scott Coulter steered the $2.90 winner.
