Odds-on favourite Pretty Handsome headed the helm early and turned away parked-challenger A Boy Named Suuzz and pocket-popping Toot Toot N to win the $11,500 Preferred 2 Pace at Flamboro Downs by a nose on Sunday, March 3.

Leaving from post five, Pretty Handsome swept to the lead as Toot Toot N took the pocket and A Boy Named Suuzz floated for position from post two into third. A Boy Named Suuzz stayed wide past a :28.1 opening quarter and journeyed first over through a :56.4 half and 1:25.3 third quarter before giving way into the final turn.

Toot Toot N pulled pocket turning into the lane while Pretty Handsome clung to control. The two dueled through the stretch with Toot Toot N edging closer but failing to overtake the pacesetter in the 1:54 mile. Brocks Fortune, tracking the top two, finished five lengths back in third.

A four-year-old gelding by Mach Three, Pretty Handsome won his 14th race from 23 starts, earning $157,840. Andrew McCabe trains the $2.70 winner for owner Glenview Livestock Ltd. and Jonathan Drury sat in the bike.
