Earlier this month, a brewery in New Brunswick paid a special tribute to fallen police officer and harness racing industry participant Sara Burns and her beloved pacer Grimsby, and that project was extremely well-received.

This past August, Cst. Sara Burns was shot and killed in the line of duty during a shooting rampage in Fredericton, N.B. that also claimed the lives of fellow officer Robb Costello and civilians Donald Adam Robichaud and Bobbie Lee Wright.

Fredericton, N.B.'s Grimross Brewing created a limited-edition pale ale earlier this month named Grimsby Pale Ale. Packaged in blue and yellow cans as a nod to Burns' favourite colours, the proceeds from the beer went to the Sara Burns Police Memorial Fund through the Fredericton Community Foundation. The fund will support mental health & wellness, women facing violence, adult continued education and community safety.

The beer, named after Burns' now-retired pacer that appeared in her regimental funeral, was an immediate hit with all 4,500 cans selling out the first day it was available.

Steve Burns, Sara's husband said she would have loved the beer, described by the brewery as a pale ale "dry-hopped with Delta [hops], offering hints of citrus with subtle grassy notes" with a measurement of 20 IBU's and an ABV of 5.3 percent. Grimross President and CEO Stephen Dixon said the one-day sellout has never happened for any of the company's other offerings.
