Pasadena Star Swoops At Rideau

Stephane Pouliot trainee Pasadena Star swept from last to first to take the $8,100 Preferred Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday, Feb. 10. as the Ottawa area oval kicked off its 2019 season.

Jetcrest jolted to to the top heading to a :27.4 opening quarter with The Back Nine sitting second. Talbotcreek Suzie, positioned third, angled first over and brushed to the front past a :58.4 half as Pasadena Star tipped off the rail from eighth.

Talbotcreek Suzie endured first-over pressure from Lmc Mass Gem passing three-quarters in 1:28 as Pasadena Star advanced in tow from third over. Driver Pouliot pulled the eight-year-old Kadabra gelding wide heading into the stretch and rushed past Lmc Mass Gem to win by two lengths in 1:58.2. Jetcrest settled for third.

Owned by 9096 9205 Quebec Inc., Pasadena Star won her 32nd race from 143 starts, earning $370,816. He paid $8.10 to win.
