Robintheatm Returns To Winning Ways
On the heels of having a four-race winning streak halted in her latest outing at Flamboro Downs, Robintheatm returned to the half-mile oval and front-stepped to a 1:55.3 victory in Saturday’s $10,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 for pacers.
Robintheatm shot the lead from Post 1 for driver Marc St. Louis, and together they led the field through fractions of :28.2, :57.4 and 1:25.4 before using a :29.4 closing quarter to win by 1-1/4 lengths over Ride Away Shark. Village Jamie rounded out the top three finishers.
Danielle Neil trains the seven-year-old daughter of Nuclear Breeze-Robin The Bank for Stewart McQueen of Sarnia, Ont. The 19-time winner is closing in on $120,000 in career earnings.
Southwind Ion went down-the-road in the $8,500 Preferred 3 for filly and mare pacers.
Marc St. Louis hustled the five-year-old daughter of Sportswriter-Its Only Rocknroll through fractions of :28.4, :58.2 and 1:26.3 before using a :29.3 closing panel to win by a length over race favourite Barockey in 1:56.2. Regal Luck tagged along to finish third.
Steve Mihalic of Burlington, Ont. owns the distaffer who hails from the barn of trainer Craig Gilmour. The victory her first of the season from five attempts, and it was the 15th of her career. She’s banked more than $150,000 to date.
