Brown, Hanover Part Ways
Trot Insider has learned that Murray Brown no longer serves as the public relations director for Hanover Shoe Farms.
The news was confirmed by Brown and Hanover's President & CEO Russell Williams on Sunday (February 3).
In 1967, Brown began his half century-long tenure with Hanover Shoe Farms. After working for Miron Farms in Quebec with brief stints at Lana Lobell Farms and The Harness Horse, he joined Hanover and was named the farm's publicity director. His primary responsibilities involved the marketing of its huge yearling consignments each fall and the promotion of the farm's Standardbred stallions.
A Hall of Famer of both sides of the border, Brown was inducted into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame in 2003 and the Communicators' wing of the U.S. Hall of Fame in 2009.
According to his bio on the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame website, Brown is "considered one of the best in the industry for his knowledge of pedigrees and detailed history of maternal families and valued for his opinion throughout the harness world. He has participated in numerous forums on breeding, conformation and market conditions."
