Free Willy Hanover Drops And Pops
After an 0-for-2 start to the season versus Preferred foes, Free Willy Hanover dropped in class and swept to an impressive-looking score versus conditioned foes Monday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Sent off as the 9-5 favourite in the $25,000 affair, Free Willy Hanover got away sixth for driver Jonathan Drury while stablemate Buzz shot to the top and carved out the opening quarter in :28.4. Buzz was still on the lead at the half in :58.3, with Free Willy Hanover swinging to the outside while tracking cover while sitting sixth on the rim.
Buzz then took the field to the three-quarter pole in 1:27, with Free Willy Hanover now sitting second over as the field fired into the final two furlongs of the trotting tilt. Drury tipped off cover in the lane and Free Willy Hanover used a :27.3 closing kick to win by 1-1/2 lengths over B Yoyo in 1:55.1. Cue Hall shook loose late and salvaged the show dough.
