Easy Lover Hanover Wins Sixth Straight
The six-year-old Somebeachsomewhere gelding Easy Lover Hanover won his sixth consecutive race and his fifth-consecutive Preferred when taking the $34,000 feature at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday, Jan. 5.
Physicallyinclined held control through a :28.3 opening quarter with Nirvana Seelster sitting second. Jody Jamieson positioned the Ben Wallace-trainee fifth and initiated a first-over move passing a :58.2 half.
Easy Lover Hanover advanced to third circling the far turn. Physicallyinclined held command by three-quarters in 1:26.1 but braced the first-over challenge into the lane. Easy Lover Hanover edged past Physicallyinclined approaching the wire and widened to a length victory in 1:54 with Nirvana Seelster chasing in third.
Owned by Brad Grant, Easy Lover Hanover won his 35th race from 85 overall, earning $827,449. He paid $3.20 to win.
Kendall Seelster catapulted off cover to a three-length victory in the $30,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace as the odds-on favourite.
Double A Mint brushed past early-leader Obvious Blue Chip to lead the field past a :29.1 opening quarter. Request For Parole, positioned fourth, tipped first over heading to a :58.1 half with Kendall Seelster following suit.
Still in control past three-quarters in 1:26.4, Double A Mint gave way to Kendall Seelster surging off cover towards the lead. Request For Parole chased from second as Kendall Seelster stopped the clock in 1:55.2. P L Hurricane took third.
A four-year-old mare by Shadow Play, Kendall Seelster competes for 1187422 Ontario Inc. She won her 14th race from 35 starts, earning $752,450. Sylvain Filion steered the $2.80 winner for trainer Rod Boyd.
