'Quest' Quenches London Preferred
Trainer-driver Jason Ryan brushed to the top with Rose Run Quest passing the half and kicked to a four-length victory when taking the $8,500 Preferred 3 Pace at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Tuesday, Jan. 1.
The Loan Ranger led pocket-sitter Regil Tiger to a :28.3 quarter while Rose Run Quest sat three lengths off the lead in third. Ryan angled the even-money favourite first over moving towards the half in :58.2 and cleared to the cones approaching three-quarters. The seven-year-old If I Can Dream gelding cruised past three-quarters in 1:26.1 and cruised through the stretch while The Loan Ranger gave pursuit from second and Lautner Seelster circled tiring horses for third.
Owned by Blair Hansen, Rose Run Quest won his 31st race from 104 starts, earning $153,833. He paid $4.10 to win.
Also on the card trainer Jeffrey Williamson collected a hat trick over the 10-race program. He sent Hawaiian Drummond ($9.10) to a wire-to-wire victory in 2:02.1, Eataamup Cassandra ($2.70) to a three-and-three-quarter lengths victory in 1:59.3 and So Long Sugar ($14.20) to an off-the-pace score going an added distance in 2:06.1.
